What could cause a share transfer to fail?

There are certain things that can occur which can cause your share transfer to be delayed or fail completely.

Are the shares registered in the same name and same address?

In order for your shares to transfer smoothly, please ensure that you have checked the shares are registered with your external broker in the same name and postal address that exists on your Stake account. Any registration discrepancies between broker accounts will cause the transfer to fail - so please reach out here to update your Stake account registration if this is the case!

Joint & Trust accounts

Unfortunately, Stake does not currently support joint or trust accounts. As a result, we cannot support any inbound transfers from joint accounts and trust accounts at your external broker. We hope to offer this in the near future.

Units and stock codes

Before you submit your transfer request, it's important that you double-check the exact units and stock codes that you are transferring to Stake. You need to ensure that these match up against the reflected values in your external broker account. Any unit errors could affect the transfer which can result in some stocks not being transferred over and left with your external broker. If this is the case, not to worry as we can always bring them over in a separate request.

Account number, HIN, or SRN

Please ensure that you have entered the correct account number, Holder Identification (HIN) or Security Reference Number (SRN).

Incorrect information provided would result in the mismatch of details and therefore the transfer being rejected or unsuccessful.
