How do I close my Stake AUS account?

At Stake, we prioritise your investing experience with the platform. If you are currently experiencing issues with your portfolio and would like assistance or if you have questions about your account – please get in touch with our support team here

See below for answers to some common questions as well as steps on how to delete your Stake account.

Is there a feature missing you would like to see?

Your input allows us to continue delivering features our investors want. If there are investing tools or trading features you would love to see on Stake, you can let us know here

We’ll inform you if it’s already on the roadmap or if it’s a feature/tool we are looking to add to the Stake experience.

Do you have another Holder Identifier Number (HIN) you’re looking to transfer?

If you already have a Holder Identifier Number (HIN) elsewhere –  you can easily transfer it over to Stake in a few simple steps.

All you need is:

Your photo I.D

A filled out broker-to-broker transfer form

A copy of your holding statement

Attach a copy of your valid photo I.D., holding statement and your filled out broker-to-broker form in an email to share-transfers@hellostake.com. Please note, the broker-to-broker form has to be printed out and manually signed.

Once successfully submitted, the transfer typically takes 2-5 business days to execute depending on your outgoing platform.

What does Stake charge for brokerage?

Here are some helpful resources that may address concerns surrounding Stake’s fees and charges.

Fees: We keep brokerage fees simple and transparent with $3 brokerage on any trade up to $30k and 0.01% on trades over $30k. Compare Stake with other investment platforms on our pricing page

With Stake Rewards you can reduce brokerage fees and earn extra stock simply by referring new people to Stake.

Does Stake charge inactivity fees?

Stake does not charge inactivity fees regardless of portfolio size, cash balance or time spent away from the platform. This means that if you want to take a break from investing, you can do so without the fear of additional fees.

Steps on how to close Stake account

To close your Stake account, you’ll need to have no securities or cash in it.  We cannot close accounts with any funds in them or with any funds owing.

Once you have no balances in your account, simply follow these steps:

On the Stake app

  1. Log in to Stake

  2. Go to More > Your accounts

  3. At the bottom of the screen, select ‘Close account’

  4. Follow the prompts and your account will be closed

On desktop

  1. Log in to Stake

  2. Go to Profile (located on the top right of your screen)

  3. Under the Account Details section, select ‘Close account’

  4. Follow the prompts and your account will be closed

Once you request to close your account it will be placed under a pending closure state for 14 days. During this time you will be able to reopen your account simply by signing in again. You will need to re-commence the closure process if you sign in to your account during these 14 days. After these 14 days, your account will be permanently closed. We recommend that you download any documents you may require prior to closing your account as you won’t be able to do so once the account is closed.

Once these 14 days expire your account will be permanently deleted and you will no longer have access to your account information, including historical trades, funding and reporting. We suggest downloading all required reports and documents prior to closing your account.

When we receive your request through email, we'll close your account and also unsubscribe you from ongoing correspondence (marketing or otherwise). This process takes up to 7 days, due to regulatory requirements in the US. To unsubscribe straight away, you can enter your email address here.
